IAGLCWDC Convention 2015 – July 2 to 4, 2015
Club Bolo and the city of Montreal will be the host for the Annual Convention of the International Association of Gay and Lesbian Country and Western Dance Clubs (IAGLCWDC). Club Bolo has been a member of the association since 1997 and hosted the convention in 2003. They want to come back! As the host city our main task will be to show our city Montreal, our Club, and welcome our friends in an open and friendly environment, something we are so good at! Our main responsibilities will be organizing an event on Thursday night, decoration of the dance halls during the weekend, organizing the hospitality suite and a closing event on the Sunday. As well we will need volunteers throughout the weekend to help with various jobs and generally just help out as tour guides and ambassadors providing help to our guests to allow them to make the most of Montreal. The convention will take place at the Sheraton hotel downtown but we will be planning other events on Thursday and Sunday around the city including the village and probably at the ASCCS too.
I would like to set up an organizing committee to start working on the event. If you are interested in participating on the committee please leave your name and contact information with me by e-mail, in person at the club, or leave your name and information at the reception desk. Jim Chakeres, who is the director of the convention will be coming to Montreal near the end of September or beginning of October. I will set up the first meeting to coincide with his visit and it will give us a chance to visit the hotel as well.
It is going to be a busy year, but I am confident that we will organize an event they will not forget!
